Empowering Tomorrow's Leaders
Haninatu Bawa (President – Smart Young Girls)
A Smart Girl’s Success Tale
“In the heart of Builsa, where opportunities for young girls were once scarce, a ray of hope emerged – the Smart Young Girls Project. I, Hani, along with my dedicated team, stand as living proof of the transformative impact of this initiative.
The Youth Initiative Project has not only enlightened us about the dangers of child marriage, forced marriage, and teenage pregnancy but has also provided us with a platform to acquire knowledge and essential skills. We have gained invaluable experience, built our capacity, and developed the confidence needed to become advocates for our younger sisters in both primary and secondary education.
As we continue on the path towards unlocking the full potential of the Smart Girls Project, I want to express my deep gratitude to the Machab Youth Project for empowering us, the Smart Young Girls team, to carry out the vital task of sensitizing our younger sisters in the basic education cycle. We pledge that, together, we will work tirelessly to create a future where every girl’s potential is nurtured and celebrated. We are committed to ensuring that girls in the Builsa District can complete their basic education without the spectre of child marriage, forced marriage, or teenage pregnancy looming over them.”
Pamela Azantilow (Member – Smart Young Girls)
Beneficiary of the Smart Young Girls Project
“Growing up in Sandema, in the Bulsa North District, I witnessed how societal norms often limited the potential of girls. This fueled my desire to champion the cause of eliminating these challenges from the lives of my younger sisters. For years, I had been waiting for an opportunity, and then I learned about the Smart Young Girls Project—a true life-changer.
Being part of this project has broadened my perspective on life and given me a sense of belonging. I wholeheartedly believe in the vision of this project. As a proud member of the Smart Young Girls, I eagerly look forward to our weekly meetings and the chance to participate in impactful awareness campaigns.
With immense gratitude and a joyful heart, I stand alongside the seven dynamic young leaders who manage the Smart Young Girls Project. Together, we thank Machab for this intervention and for creating a sisterhood of empowerment.”
